Dear Fellow Bronx Science Parents and Guardians,

We wish to extend our thanks to those of you who attended the Parents’ Association meeting this past Wednesday. We were pleased to welcome Ms.Eleanor Coufos, ’99, Bronx Science Foundation President, who shared an informative presentation about summer opportunities for our students. We thank Ms. Coufos for the work that she and the Foundation do on behalf of our students. We would also like to thank our Hospitality Team, Lilach Bar, Kosaku Shinoda and Karah Rempe for providing a delicious dinner to our parents/guardians at the PA meeting. For those who were unable to attend the meeting, summer opportunities will be discussed again at tomorrow morning’s Coffee with The Principal. We look forward to seeing those of you who will be attending this meeting.

The PA acknowledges VP of Fundraising Yan Yu for her tireless work on our Annual Appeal campaign. We are over 80% of the way to reaching our $300k goal! If you haven’t had a chance to make your contribution yet, now is the time, and you may do so here! We would love to hit our target by the end of this month so we can direct our full attention towards the Spring Gala on April 11.

Congratulations to those of you who successfully bid on our Gala summer camp auction! There will be many other exciting items available for bid during our upcoming Gala auction; stay tuned for more information about future bidding opportunities. In the meantime, Gala tickets for the April 11 Rock and Raise Spring Gala are on sale here, and we encourage you to attend this fun event that benefits the school and our kids! You can also enter the raffle for a chance to win an Apple MacBook Pro! See the posts below for more information about our upcoming Gala.

Bronx Science makes so much possible for our students. We invite you to come share the joy of having a Bronx Science student at the Spring Accepted Students Open House, which the school is hosting on Wednesday, March 27, at 5 PM. We need a LOT of volunteers to make this event as warm, welcoming, and informative as possible for the students who have just received offers. Please click here to volunteer. We need help with merchandise sales, transportation information, answering general questions, and serving food to our student volunteers who make these marquee events so special.

Next month’s Parents’ Association meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 17th at 7:00 PM. The meeting will address the important and timely issue of “Teens and Substance Abuse,” moderated by Assistant Principal Andrew Nasser.   Parents/guardians will have an opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences anonymously, both of which can be done via this survey. An RSVP for the meeting will be shared in a couple of weeks.

There is still time to fill out the NYC school survey, which can be found here. For more information, see the NYC Survey post below. The deadline to submit the survey is April 5, and we are counting on full participation from our families. The grade that submits the highest number of surveys will win a grade-wide prize!
